Senior Living

Seeing a correlation between the hospitality and senior living design segments, as well as lessons learned from being immersed in hospitality design, we saw the potential for crossover opportunities within the segments, which could ultimately make each segment even stronger.

With personal experience as the driver to understand more about senior living, and to effect positive change and improvements, we spent several years learning and exploring various facets of senior living, assisted living and extended care—from the consumer perspective and from the design community orientation.  

Since our entry into the segment, we have been involved in the development and execution of  three unique events in this market segment, each designed to improve the design, functionality and end product of senior living and assisted living communities, as well as to bring designers, end users and manufacturers together to collaborate on solutions and relationship building with the community.  

During that process, with manufacturers, design teams and end users we have effectively expanded collaborative opportunities within the segment, facilitated focus groups, heightened awareness for the segment and shaped a new dialogue among developers, designers and manufacturers dedicated to the senior living market thereby improving experiences and enhancing lives for those who reside within the communities.  

In July of 2020, the Ageless Living Collaborative (ALC) was founded by senior living design industry leaders to share information, educate, discuss and delve into current challenges, and find solutions, for the senior living community. Looking through various lenses, including design, psychology, culture, finance and communications, the organization provides platforms, including a regular webinar series, for experts to address issues, offer solutions, and engage in conversations that encourages positive aging for seniors. In the Spring of 2022, the Ageless Living Collaborative became a 501c3 organization.

In 2015, Phoebe Stein, in collaboration with HMG, established Senior Lifestyle Design Match, a senior living and assisted living match event dedicated to build relationships, engage designers, developers and end users, and create a meaningful dialogue dedicated to serving this community.
